The Politecnico di Milano is one of
the most outstanding universities
in Europe, ranked 28th in the
world and 9th in Europe among
technical universities, according to
The QS World University Ranking
– Engineering & Technology 2013.
Founded in 1863, it is the largest
school of architecture, design and
engineering in Italy, with three
main campuses located in Milan,
the heart of fashion and design
industries and the future venue of
Expo 2015, and five more premises
around the Lombardy region.
Many important scientists and
architects studied and taught here,
among them Achille Castiglioni, Gio
Ponti, Renzo Piano and Aldo Rossi,
both Pritzker Prize in 1990 and 1998
respectively, and Giulio Natta, Nobel
Prize in Chemistry in 1963.
The Politecnico di Milano is
organized into 12 departments,
responsible for planning of the
research strategies, and 6 schools,
responsible for the organization of
education. Among these, 3 schools
cater for the different fields of
engineering and 3 schools the fields
of architecture and industrial design.
Thanks to a strong
internationalization policy, many
programmes are taught entirely
in English, attracting an everincreasing number of talented
foreign students, which now form a
diverse community from more than
100 different countries. In the academic year 2012/2013,
18% of the total students enrolled
on Master of Science programmes
were foreign.
Inter and multidisciplinarity is
fostered throughout the academic
path, and it is the methodological
approach of the Phd School and
the ASP (Alta Scuola Politecnica),
a school for young talents from all
over the world, who develop their
skills in a team work context to
pursue complex innovation projects.
Students are offered also focused
and personalized career services,
from in-class and online meetings
with companies, to workshops on
soft skills and the job market, along
with announcements and guidance
for international careers.
Teaching is increasingly related
to research, a key commitment
that enables to achieve results of
high international standards, while
creating connections with the
business world.
Strategic research is carried out
mainly in the fields of energy,
transport, planning, management,
design, mathematics and natural
and applied sciences, ICT, built
environment, cultural heritage, with
more than 130 laboratories, among
these also a Wind Tunnel and a
Crash Test centre.
MIP Politecnico di Milano has been recognised as a prestigious business
school for over 30 years, attracting graduates interested in a managerial
career in business or in public administration, together with companies
wishing to enhance their organisation and strategies.
Founded in 1979 as a Consortium between the Politecnico di Milano and
many Italian institutions and several leading public and private industrial
groups, today MIP is a non-for-profit limited company.
In 2007, the entire School of
Management, including DIG
and MIP, first achieved the
prestigious EQUIS accreditation
(European Quality Improvement
System) and joined the circle of
around 140 leading business
schools accredited by EFMD.
In March 2013, the School has
received accreditation from the
Association of MBAs (AMBA) for
achieving what AMBA describes
as the highest standard in
Postgraduate Business Education
for EMBA and MBA programmes.
MIP is the business school of the Politecnico di Milano,
one of the best technical universities in Europe and in
Italy, with a tradition in engineering and a strong focus on
technology and organizational and managerial innovation.
MIP’s Executive MBA applies an analytical approach to
problem solving and provide the special mix of technical
and management skills required to develop and lead
world-class companies in a range of sectors, from
operations and manufacturing to design and luxury
MIP’s Executive MBA improves a global prospective as well the analytical skills, understanding, confidence and
language to exert influence at all levels in an organization.
Demanding, intensive but highly rewarding, the
experience will prepare participants to become a leader
and provide them with a broader vision to respond to
complex business issues in more comprehensive manner.
The programme offered allow participants to immediately
put into practice new ideas, frameworks and tools,
through teamwork and cross-cultural collaboration, case-study methodology and challenging projects.
Designed for senior and mid-career executives, the
Executive MBA programmes are tailored to suit different
participants needs. Executive MBAs are designed so that
students take all, or nearly all, classes with the same set
of students, providing a tremendous opportunity to gain
business contacts with managers in a cross section of career levels and specializations at other companies, thus learning effectively from your diverse and high-calibre peer group.
Studying alongside experienced managers brings
incomparable quality to the learning experience, and
the diversity of students and faculty combined with the
international assignment opportunities allows students
to gain the global business skills and insights to operate
successfully anywhere in the world.
The value of the Executive MBA only begins with the
master programme. Lifelong friendships, and shared
connections with other alumni are among the most
powerful benefits of the programme. The relationships
built give you the power to move ahead in your job,
change your career, and even relocate around the world.
In order to improve the social and personal skills of
the participants, a significant part of the programme
is dedicated to the development of soft skills such as
teamwork, intercultural collaboration, leadership and
adaptability. To do so we have introduced the one-toone experience through which the participant will have
the opportunity to interact with faculty, managers and
professionals of the Talent Development Center for the
development of her/his careers through coaching and
mentoring activities.
In 2014, the first Business School in Italy, we have
renewed the Executive MBA programme transforming the
management education approach to a more efficient and
effective executive learning thanks to the potential offered
by the new digital technologies.
The Executive MBAs starting in 2015 have been redesigned
to meet the growing needs of professionals to enhance
their management skills, interact and discuss with faculty
and colleagues on the move, and to ensure the maximum
flexibility regardless of their geographic location, travel
schedules and work or personal commitments.
The Executive MBA student digital experience revolves
around an innovative digital learning platform, developed
by MIP on MICROSOFT technology.
The platform allows our students to access pre-recorded
videos, to actively participate in video-discussion
sessions, forum and workgroups moderated by
professors, to interact with other students and work with
them on projects and assignments, to access additional
multimedia content, to interact one-to-one with our faculty.
Participants can access the platform from anywhere, using
any digital terminal (tablet, smartphone, laptop, etc.).
MIP’s Executive MBA Part-time programmes are adapting
to the changing marketplace and offered as a weekend or
evening format. This means that participants can obtain
an internationally recognised qualification – an Executive
MBA – without interrupting their careers.
Such an organization makes it easier for both students
and their company to choose to invest in their professional
Combining classroom lessons with daily work means that
students can apply their newly-acquired knowledge and
skills immediately with the workplace, so that the learning
process is more effective and engenders an immediate
benefit to their companies.
Schedule of the Part-Time EMBA PROGRAMMES
The Executive MBA programmes is designed for managers, and entrepreneurs who wish to undertake a rigorous
and innovative Executive MBA without taking a break from their current responsibilities. The face-to-face lessons
are combined with multimedia content delivered on the innovative digital learning platform, developed by MIP on
MICROSOFT technology.
The 2015 new EMBA formats allows a greater opportunity to deepen the learning experience and ensures continuous
learning between each face-to-face module. The part-time study while continuing to work full-time, together with the
continuous interaction with the EMBA classmates and the EMBA Executive Academy allow you to put into practice the
skills acquired from the start, making the learning process more effective and creating also an immediate benefit for
your company.

Working towards your EMBA is an excellent opportunity to implement projects in your own company or to develop
a new business idea and have the support of the Politecnico faculty.
By working closely with professors and researchers of Politecnico di Milano, students will have the opportunity to apply the tools and methods learned during the EMBA to address at the edge topics of interest for companies,
as well as building relationships of great value for their professional careers.
Marco Grespigna, Executive MBA Part Time 2010 - Business Unit Director @ Teva Pharmaceuticals
My final project about “Project Working and Collaborative Organization” developed and implemented in
the company I work for, thanks to the support of some faculty of the Executive MBA, has been extremely
valuable for my organization. It allowed us to develop an innovative approach to managing projects,
workloads and teams. Besides the advantages of the use of these new management models, I want also to
emphasize the cost savings achieved thanks to the advice of the faculty of Politecnico di Milano.
Paolo Mazza, Executive MBA Evening 2008 - CFO Blue IT S.p.A.
Our project work developed from the idea of a classmate, Girolamo Marazzi, expert in IT services, to launch
a startup company in order to anticipate and seize the opportunities offered by the market.
Together with Girolamo we designed a business plan using the models, theories and tools acquired during
the Executive MBA programme, and which has been extremely useful both as a trigger and as a point of
reference for monitoring and managing the development of the plan. The Executive MBA course had also
been very important to build and strengthen our friendship, fundamental element in the early stages of the
turmoil and stress typical of any startup.
Blue IT today is a company that offers IT services in outsourcing, and after less than five years since its
launch its sales have grown to € 12M, with over 160 employees in three offices in Italy and it is already
facing the internationalization of its services through a subsidiary in France.
The connection with the Business School was not only limited to the initial phase of the startup, as we
continue to count on the important support in terms of network as well as the ability to maintain the link
with the faculty and the extensive expertise of the school.
Andrea Rinaldo, Executive MBA Part Time 2012, Founder e CEO Xmetrics
With my final Project Work I have the chance to develop a new product Xmetrics which combines a business
idea with my passion for the swimming. Thanks to this device today trainers and professional and amateur/
occasional swimmers will have the possibility to collect useful and more precise data about their performances in
an automatic way. Xmetrics allows to have an audio feedback during the swim and to download data in a second
moment for a more detailed analysis.
Without MIP network, in particular the MIP Innovits Group, and the support of a Faculty member I would never
have had the possibility to develop this new project with other two MIP Alumni.
Today Xmetrics has been launched on the market and is attracting investments day by day.
The MIP Executive MBA Programme has always empowered students to maximize their leadership potential. Our Leadership Programme and the support of the Talent Development Center sets an even higher standard

has held various leadership roles around the globe.
The invaluable soft-skills that he has developed in
P&G – known for its excellence in this area – have
given him the sort of experience that is instrumental
in his role as Personal Development collaborator. Filippo is responsible not only for defining the
content and methodology of the Leadership
Programme course, but also for moulding students
into effective team players that possess the
interpersonal and leadership skills that are highly
sought after by companies.
LEADING IN A VUCA WORLD (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous)
In a world changing at an increasing speed, leadership
skills are as critical as ever to play a relevant role in
our business and succeed. Importantly, the leadership
attributes are evolving: indeed, the ‘context’ in which we
operate is becoming a key factor, influenced by social,
economic, demographic, and technological forces. Critical managerial skills to succeed in business. Research shows this is what employers are seeking, more
than specialized/technical skills (that is, “who people
are”, more than “what they know”).
This course covers the skills required to be effective leaders
in such a changing world, and to maximize our interactions
effectiveness; these include: situational leadership,
communications, conflict management, active listening,
power of dialogue, publicspeaking, ‘contextual intelligence’.
The goal is to get to master at least a few, with strong
awareness of all Pedagogical methods: Role plays and
practice; in depth discussions of situational skill and
feedback, collectively and individually.
Benefits for the sponsoring company
The format of our EMBA allows you to improve your performance immediately. Studying whilst working means that you

The Alumni Community
[email protected]
In 2008 MIP set up the Alumni Relations Office,
a dedicated office to manage relations with MIP
students and graduates, in order to invest increasingly
in its community of students and graduates, from Italy
and abroad.
The aim of AlumniSoM Relations Office is to develop
educational, cultural and recreational initiatives of interest to its members, and to promote interaction
between all the alumni belonging to the network, both in Italy and abroad.
More specifically, the objectives are:
- support the personal and professional
development of SoM alumni;
- facilitate networking and the sharing of experience
among the members of the community;
- confer visibility and create professional
opportunities for alumni;
- enhance the image of the school using the alumni
as ambassadors around the world;
- contribute to the development of the business
school through a closer collaboration with its
community of alumni.
In line with these objectives, the main categories of initiatives include:
Evening Seminars, in which emerging management
trends or “hot” topics are analyzed through
discussion and exchange of experience between
alumni, faculty representatives and invited speakers
(managers, experts, consultants, etc);
Networking events: Winter Conference, Summer
Gala Dinner, Alumni reunions, themed evenings,
Shared interest groups: Consulting Club, Design
and Luxury Club, Innovits Club and Finance Club
active at the moment, while the Energy, Water and Waste Club will be created soon.
Sports Clubs: Sport always gives the opportunity
to work in a team with a great sense of
competitiveness and fun. Our students and
graduates have created different clubs which
organize tournaments, regattas, training and competitions among the best international
universities and Business Schools, so as to
encourage professional networking enjoying
Most of these activities are run both in Italy (Milan and Rome) and abroad, thanks to the
international chapters that are active in the most
important cities around the world (London, Shanghai,
New York, Paris, Zurich, etc).
Being part of the larger Alumni Polimi Community,
our alumni can also join the events and benefit from the services managed directly by AlumniPoliMI
Association and devoted to the whole community.
