Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the post of Pro ViceChancellor at Lupane State University. The Pro Vice-Chancellor shall assist the Vice-Chancellor in the
performance of his/her functions and, in addition, shall have such functions as may be specified in the
University Statutes.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate should be a visionary, dynamic and innovative leader to provide academic
and administrative leadership to strengthen the profile of the University.
He/she should have a distinguished record of achievements and proven capacity to provide
organisational guidance in a stimulating and culturally diverse environment.
He/she is expected to provide, among other responsibilities:Leadership in strategic planning and management;
Leadership in implementing and monitoring educational quality assurances;
Guidance in the integration of research and technology into teaching and learning; and
Leadership in team building skills while promoting the institution as an agent of transformation
in national development.
Qualifications & Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess relevant and earned academic qualifications from an approved
institution(s) at the level of doctoral degree (PhD). Professional qualifications in the areas of
management will be an added advantage.
The candidate will be expected to command expert knowledge of developments and challenges in
Higher Education internationally.
Have extensive experience in teaching and learning, policy making, strategic planning and quality
Strong record in research activities and the use of technology in Higher Education.
Show proven competencies in academic leadership and management of Higher Education.
Applicant must be of a high level of integrity and be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal
and intercultural communication skills.
The prospective candidate should have at least ten years post-qualification experience, of which
five years were spent at Senior Management level in a Tertiary Institution.
