Providencia Paredes Dominican Immigrant Who Reached
Kennedy Inner Circle Has Died
Providencia Paredes – an immigrant from the Dominican Republic
whose name was known to few but
had a hand in one of the most tragic
events in U.S. history when she was
the special assistant to former first
lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis –
has passed away.
Paredes’ son, Gustavo Paredes,
announced her death on his Facebook page. Paredes died in Washington on March 18 at the age of 90.
In his post, Gustavo Paredes wrote
that his mother was born in the Dominican Republic and was the first
person of Latino descent to work in
the White House as part of president’s inner circle.
Gustavo Paredes described
his mother as “a woman of
immense will, passion, curiosity and a zest for life.”
Providencia Paredes was
the first lady’s go-to person at the White House.
She was Kennedy Onassis’
special assistant — the one
who kept meticulous records of her appointments,
her thousands of outfits, her
telephone calls and postal

Mallika Chopra: A Woman of Intent
The daughter of Deepak Chopra talks about her latest book, living in Santa Monica and growingup with a spiritual icon
She’s a successful entrepreneur,
a former MTV executive, a published author, mother of two, not
to mention the daughter of NewAge guru Deepak Chopra. Mallika Chopra has led a very unique
and interesting life, although she
insists that she had a very normal
childhood, despite the fact that
she grew up exposed to individuals such as George Harrison and
Elizabeth Taylor.
“I think because we were exposed
to a lot of famous and extremely
successful people because of the
work my father did, we always
thought of people as people, no
matter who they were,” Mallika
explained. “So generally in our
family we don’t take ourselves too
seriously. I think we try to focus on
the relationships and living that
authentic life just because we’ve
seen so much.”
Things have been especially busy
for Mallika lately. This past month
she spoke at the Organization of

Life is a journey
By Judith Costa
Look at your life as a
collection of experiences,
as a trip. Discover how to
enjoy it every step of the
path. Don’t miss any opportunity to do it. Always
expect the best. Even
when it seems impossible, think that everything
will be all right. Choose
wisely how you invest
your time while you travel.
Dream, laugh, Love, experience, listen and enjoy more.
Worry less and believe in yourself!
Don’t hesitate to share the journey
with others, but don’t feel lonely if
you are travelling alone right now.
In fact, you are never alone. While
you travel through life you will meet
people from your soul family. They
will show up in your life within a
divine timing to help you, and you
will do the same for them. You are
surrounded by invisible helpers,
but they can only give you guidance and advice, if you ask them
for help. On the journey of life, it is
ok to stop and ask for directions.
You are in the path of Love. Look
at the world with loving eyes. Give
Love and don’t expect anything
less in return. Love, love, and,
when you feel tired, continue Loving. Never give up on Love. Don’t
exchange Love, just create it inside of yourself and give it. We are
all together on this journey to learn
how to Love, and how to be Loved.
In case of doubt about the right

inner wisdom resides there. Don’t
make all your decisions by thinking
about them; also feel them.
Don’t allow your worries, fears
and doubts stop you from walking
your path. Be present, and allow
yourself to see the big picture of
your life, not the difficulties and the
problems that you had or might be
encountering now. Life will bring a
little bit of everything, there will be
ups and downs in the road, but you
have the power to figure out how to
overcome anything in your life, one
challenge at a time.
Your life is not a matter of chance
or good luck. You create the path.
You always have a choice. You hold
the map, and make decisions during the experience. Always think
about what would be the best way
to enjoy the trip. Slow down and
relax if you notice that you are suffering through the path. Allow your
unique journey to unfold. Enjoy the
ride without knowing the destination. www.judithmcosta.com

L.A.Clippers Chris Paul Was Named NBA Player
Of The WeeK
By Earl Heath
The Los Angeles Clippers have
been on a roll lately approaching
the 50 win mark for the third year in
a row. The play of Chris Paul has
been monumental. Good enough
to earn him Eastern Conference
Player of the Week.
In the weeks games Paul powered
the Clippers to one of the NBA’s
two 4-0 weeks. He ranked fifth in
the NBA in scoring (26.0 ppg) and
second in the West in assists (11.3
apg). The All-Star guard had 30
points and 11 assists in a 116-105
victory against the Sacramento
Kings on March 18, and two nights
later he contributed 30 points and
15 assists in a 113-99 win over the
Washington Wizards. Paul totaled
45 assists and seven turnovers in
the four games.

DeAndre Jordan is averaging

Homeownership is a big commitment. Before you leap, make sure

Is your job stable? Do you see
yourself living in this city for the
next 5 to 10 years? Are you prepared for all the extra work that
comes with homeownership, such
as repairs and maintenance, yard
work, pest control and attending
HOA meetings?

Step 2: Create a list of “musts”
Buying a property is like dating: If
you’re expecting absolute perfection, you’ll be disappointed. Few
people find a home that’s 100
percent ideal. It’s important to
know which issues you’re willing
to compromise on and which are
deal breakers. Check out different neighborhoods, home styles,
and listings online to get a feel for
what’s most important to you.
Step 3: Figure out what you
can afford
Your mortgage payments aren’t
the only cost you’ll need to consider. First, you’ll need a down payment. On some loans it can be as
little as 3% of the purchase price.
You’ll also want to make sure
you’re financially secure enough to
handle any maintenance or repair
costs that can (and will) crop up.
As a rule of thumb you should set
aside monies in your “home emergency fund.”

proof of employment, such as pay
stubs and copies of the past 2

out bank and investment account
statements from the past 30 days,
cancelled checks from the past 12
months showing that you’ve paid
rent on time, and landlord information for the past 2 years.
Step 5: Get preapproved
Before you visit a single house,
gather the documentation from
Step 3 and get preapproved. The
process is relatively quick and
easy -- you’ll simply provide information about your income and
debts. Sellers will not even consider an offer unless you’re preapproved for a loan.
Step 6: Assemble your

You are new to the home buying
game, you’ll need the right people
on your side to help you navigate.

Hud Pilot In Los Angeles Connects Over 2,600 Low
Income Workers To Job Opportunities In First Two Years
Today, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
in Region IX announced the preliminary results of the Los Angeles
pilot Section 3 Business Registry.
This pilot is part of a five-city HUD
initiative launched in 2012 and
also piloted in Detroit, Miami, New
Orleans, and Washington, DC to
help local public agencies better
connect local businesses that hire
low-income residents and workers
with the contracting and economic
development opportunities created
by HUD-funded housing and development projects, a requirement
under Section 3 guidelines.
This announcement comes a day
after HUD Secretary Julián Castro
announced new changes to Section 3 that direct jobs and training
to low-income workers and connects businesses that hire them
with HUD-funded contracting opportunities. The initiative would increase opportunities for businesses that hire local public housing
residents for HUD-funded projects.
In addition to changes to Section
3 requirements, Secretary Castro
also announced the launch of a
National Section 3 Business Registry. The registry is a searchable
online database that local housing
authorities, government agencies,
and contractors can use to find
firms that are self-certified as employing at least 30 percent public
housing residents or low-income
workers. Nearly 1,000 businesses
have signed up for the registry nationally.
Every year, HUD funds create
thousands of jobs across the
country that range from construction to professional services like
accounting or engineering. From
2009-2014, based on data reported by public housing authorities
and HUD modeling, approximately
170,000 jobs were created by
HUD for eligible low-income workers through this program. More
than $5 billion in HUD-funded contracts has been directed to Section
3 businesses since 2009.
To register a business, search

Section 3 businesses, or to learn

Commissioner Expected to Announce 23
MLS Franchise in Minneapolis
rd
Major League Soccer is expected
to confirm during a news conference this week that an expansion
franchise has been awarded to
Minnesota.
MLS said Monday that Commissioner Don Garber will join Bill
McGuire, the owner of the Minnesota United club in the North
American Soccer League, for
“an important announcement”
Wednesday without specifying
the nature of it. The news conference will be held at Target Field,
the home of baseball’s Minnesota Twins.
Minnesota United, which plays
home games in the second-tier NASL in
Blaine, a suburb north of Minneapolis, didn’t
respond to requests for further information
about the announcement. Dan Courtemanche, the executive vice president of communications for MLS, declined to divulge
details.
But one week ago, the league confirmed
it’s been in “advanced discussions” with
McGuire and his partners about bringing a
team to Minneapolis that would become the
23rd MLS franchise.
The statement from Garber issued then by
the league expressed excitement about the
McGuire group’s plans for a new soccerspecific stadium. McGuire is a former UnitedHealth Group executive.
Twins owner Jim Pohlad has joined Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor as
backers of McGuire’s group. Speculation
about a site for the new soccer venue has
centered on the area near where the MLB
and NBA teams play in the city’s burgeoning
North Loop neighborhood on the west edge
of downtown.

Trust, estimated fees, charges and expenses of the Trustee and of
the trusts created by said Deed of Trust. The total amount of the
unpaid balance of the obligations secured by the property to be sold
and reasonable estimated costs, expenses and advances at the time

you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a Trustee auction.
You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the
highest bid at a Trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to
free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware
that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the
highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can
receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate
the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist
on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title
insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this
information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be
aware that the same Lender may hold more than one mortgage or
Deed of Trust on the property. Notice to Property Owner The sale
date shown on this Notice of Sale may be postponed one or more
times by the Mortgagee, Beneficiary, Trustee, or a court, pursuant
to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that
information about Trustee Sale postponements be made available to
you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale.
If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed,
and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this
property, you may call In Source Logic at 702-659-7766 for information regarding the Trustee’s Sale or visit the Internet Web site

NOTICE OF PETITION TO ADMINISTER
ESTATE OF TERENCE J. COMISKEY aka
TERENCE COMISKEY
Case No. BP160912
To all heirs, beneficiaries, creditors, contingent creditors, and persons who may otherwise be interested in
the will or estate, or both, of TERENCE J. COMISKEY
aka TERENCE COMISKEY
A PETITION FOR PROBATE has been filed by Linda
Stone in the Superior Court of California, County of
LOS ANGELES.
THE PETITION FOR PROBATE requests that Linda
Stone be appointed as personal representative to administer the estate of the decedent.
THE PETITION requests the decedent’s will and codicils, if any, be admitted to probate. The will and any
codicils are available for examination in the file kept
by the court.
THE PETITION requests authority to administer
the estate under the Independent Administration of
Estates Act. (This authority will allow the personal
representative to take many actions without obtaining
court approval. Before taking certain very important
actions, however, the personal representative will be
required to give notice to interested persons unless
they have waived notice or consented to the proposed
action.) The independent administration authority will
be granted unless an interested person files an objection to the petition and shows good cause why the
court should not grant the authority.
A HEARING on the petition will be held on April 22,
2015 at 8:30 AM in Dept. No. 67 located at 111 N. Hill
St., Los Angeles, CA 90012.
IF YOU OBJECT to the granting of the petition, you
should appear at the hearing and state your objections or file written objections with the court before
the hearing. Your appearance may be in person or
by your attorney.
IF YOU ARE A CREDITOR or a contingent creditor of
the decedent, you must file your claim with the court
and mail a copy to the personal representative appointed by the court within the later of either (1) four
months from the date of first issuance of letters to a
general personal representative, as defined in section
58(b) of the California Probate Code, or (2) 60 days
from the date of mailing or personal delivery to you of
a notice under section 9052 of the California Probate
Code.
Other California statutes and legal authority may affect your rights as a creditor. You may want to consult
with an attorney knowledgeable in California law.
YOU MAY EXAMINE the file kept by the court. If you
are a person interested in the estate, you may file with
the court a Request for Special Notice (form DE-154)
of the filing of an inventory and appraisal of estate assets or of any petition or account as provided in Probate Code section 1250. A Request for Special Notice
form is available from the court clerk.
