The Calgary Airport Authority is leading an exciting expansion program at YYC worth over two billion dollars. With
the recent opening of Canada’s longest runway and the construction of a new international terminal, this is an
exciting time to be a part of the YYC Crew.
The Role:
Reporting to Director, Operations, this safety-sensitive position is responsible for the safe and efficient 24/7 daily
operations of the Airport. This includes day-to-day facility scheduling, coordination and operational response at the
Calgary International Airport on a 24-hour basis. Normal hours of work for this role shall be an average of forty point
eight (40.8) hours per week, on a rotating shift (4 days on, 4 days off), scheduled over a seventy (70) day period.
This safety-sensitive position has the following primary duties:
1. During non-office hours, acts as the senior Airport Authority representative on site.
2. Coordinate and assign the usage of common use facilities including aircraft gates, counters, baggage claim
devices and make up units and aircraft parking stands.
3. Resolve conflicts with respect to competing demands for the use of airport facilities.
4. Assist in the coordination of work done by others to airport facilities with minimal impacts on airport
5. Manage the Operations Center.
6. Coordinate the implementation of all airport emergency procedures in the event of emergencies.
7. Conduct routine inspections of airside, groundside, and the terminal facilities.
8. Provide direction, information, advice and guidance to all airport users.
Basic Requirements:
 Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a wide variety of stakeholders with tact and
 Strong decision maker with ability to assess situations and recommend timely and appropriate courses of
 Able to work effectively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
 Proven ability to manage multiple priorities within a dynamic and changing environment.
 A positive attitude and strong customer service orientation with the ability to build relationships at all levels
within the airport environment.
 Ability to handle stress and deal with crisis situations in a calm manner and be able to manage others in a
stressful environment.
 Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
 Strong computer skills, displaying ease in working with a variety of software applications, including the ability
to maintain databases.
 Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to obtain and maintain an Airfield Vehicle Operators Permit
 Be available to work a 12-hour shift rotation, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Additional Requirements:
 A good working knowledge of Canadian regulations governing airlines and airports would be an asset.
