Key Job Responsibilities
■Conduct an assessment of the patient and provide appropriate management, psychosocial support, referrals, ethical
counselling and follow-up of cases, to patients with risk of or manifested genetic conditions. ■Co-ordination of rostered clinic
attendance at various hospitals, in order to optimize delivery of ethical genetic counselling services to ensure appropriate outpatient management ■Participation in national “outreach” programmes to provide and disseminate quality genetic counselling
services to all communities, in line with the DOH primary health care norms and standards. ■Provides a telephonic consultation
to medical personnel and patients to resolve queries, propose action and increase awareness of service availability. ■Supervise,
guide and mentor trainee genetic students/interns in a practical clinical environment to ensure an appropriate transfer of skills. ■

■ Receives, labels and sort specimen for testing according to standard operating procedures ■Captures patient information on

laboratories in order to ensure completeness of audit trial. ■ Administer the distribution of specimen to ensure the correct and
