It is a pleasure to participate in the 5th Regional Incentive Award Ceremony of the Kendriya
Vidyalaya Sangathan and present Awards to the Principals, teaching and non teaching staff
and address this distinguished gathering here today.
At the outset I congratulate KVS for shaping the life of many youths. Its service in the field of
education, especially its dedication in teaching and equipping the young students to prepare
them for the future deserves appreciation.
It is heartening to note that Kendriya Vidyalaya, CRPF, Avadi is one of the pioneer
institutions of KVS Chennai region established in the year 1978,known for its dedicated services
to the children of CRPF Personnel and there are about 1900 students in 4 sections from class 1
to 12th and 80 staff members taking care of the needs of children under the able guidance of
Teachers who have brought the Vidyalaya to greater heights.
Mahatma Gandhiji said,
"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."
I am told that KVS is a system of Central Government Schools in India that have been
established under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource development. It comprises 1099
schools in India and 3 abroad with a total of 11,48,340 students and 6,445 employees.
Its mission to cater the educational needs of children of transferrable, Central Government
employees including defence and paramilitary personnel by providing a common programme of
education; to pursue excellence and set the pace in the field of school education; to initiate and
promote experimentation and innovations in education in collaboration with other bodies like the
Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) and the National council of Educational
Research and Training(NCERT); and to develop a spirit of national integration and create a
sense of “Indianess” among children deserves appreciation.
The uniform curriculum followed by these schools all over India was intended to ensure that
the children of government employees do not face education disadvantages when their parents
are transferred, by providing a common syllabus and system of education.
I am happy to note that the Regional Incentive Awards were initiated by KVS in 2010 to
honour its principles, teaching and non-teaching staff for their dedicated service in the field of
education at regional level and a total of 26 awards pertaining to different cadres are being
given today. I congratulate all the Awardees on this occasion for their noble service.

pillars on which a nation is built. 21st century is the century of knowledge. The knowledge gained
or acquired should be utilised for the welfare of the society and humanity. Learning should be

We need a vibrant knowledge based society. India is on the threshold of great future. We

knowledge, spirit of creativity, confidence and habit of hard work that will bring success in their
Education is assimilation of knowledge. It is the commitment of students, the quality of
education imparted and the dedication of the faculty that will fetch good results. The faculty
should keep themselves acquainted with the latest developments. The educational institutions
should facilitate its faculty to update their knowledge periodically.
A teacher should establish a rapport with the students and become one with them.
Enhancing competency in teachers, updating knowledge is imperative
An educational institution should possess a very good technology and learning environment
with good infrastructure. I am pleased to learn that KVS is one among them.

legacy of our nation.
