Following mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Timothy Cardinal Dolan joined Catholic Charities Executive Director Msgr. Kevin Sullivan, UJAFederation of New York CEO Eric Goldstein, Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies CEO and Executive Director Jennifer Jones Austin, Catholic Charities Community Services Executive Director Beatriz Diaz Taveras, Goya Foods Public Relations Director Rafael Toro and ShopRite Vice President of Operations Tom Urtz to unload a 40foot truck filled with food donated by GOYA on to Catholic Charities' Mobile Food Pantry. These crucial donations will be delivered to food pantries, soup kitchens and meal programs that serve New Yorkers in need. This campaign, called " Feeding Our Neighbors: An Interfaith Response," began in 2012. It represents a joint effort to raise food and funds to replenish food pantries and soup kitchens that feed our hungry neighbors during this most critical time of the year. This year's effort has been significantly enhanced by the generous donation of 300,000 pounds of food by Goya Foods and by the participation of 26 ShopRite stores in the Hudson Valley region. Together, Catholic Charities, UJA-Federation, and the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies maximize their impact to realize the campaign's goal of collecting 1 million meals by February 1, 2014 and distributing them to feed the hungry across New York. For more information, visit: www.catholiccharitiesny.org/feedingourneighbors JANUARY 25 –FEBRUARY 1 St Stanislaus has participated in this Catholic Charities initiative for the past few years and successfully collected “tons” of non perishables for the Pleasant Valley Food Pantry. For two Sundays, January 25 and February 1, we will be collecting the items in the PARISH HALL, by the windows, and anticipate another terrific effort! Try to separate your food into categories to make organizing and transporting the donations easier. Many thanks in advance!
