1.
Since a square has all equal sides the base and height are the same. Using
the formula A = bh, the Area = 8 x 8. The area is 64 square inches.
2.
Using the formula A = bh, the Area = 10 yards x 40 yards. The area is 400
square yards.
3.
Using A = ½ bh the area is ½ x 3 x 2. The area of the triangle is 3 square
feet.
4.
Your back yard measures 30 feet x 40 feet. What is the area of the back
yard? 30’ x 40’ = 120 square feet.
5.
What is the area of a 9 foot tall square? All sides are 9’ so the area is 9’ x
9’. The area is 81 square feet.
6.
My Geometry book measures 11” x 8”. How many square inches are on the
cover? 11” x 8” = 88 square inches
7.
The floor measures 20’ x 24’. 20’ x 24’ = 480 square feet so you need 480
tiles.
8.
The triangle is 8 feet tall. The base of the triangle is 5 feet. 8 x 5 = 40 and
half of 40 is 20, so the triangle is 20 square feet.
