Music Screening/Part Check: There will be a music screening/part check event at the beginning of the first
rehearsal on Wednesday. This screening will consist of a walk through by ACDA personnel while the choir
sings each piece to assure that each singer is prepared on the repertoire for their choir. If in question we will
give you an opportunity to privately demonstrate that you do know the music. If you cannot demonstrate
proficiency, you will not be sent home, nor will we provide tutorials on site. You will become an Auditor. If
you are significantly late to a rehearsal, miss a rehearsal or commit some other major infraction of rules,
decided upon by the Honor Choir managers, you will become an Auditor. Any singer who becomes an auditor
will be allowed to attend all rehearsals, seated in the back of the rehearsal hall and learn as the other singers do;
however, you will not be allowed to sing in the concert. Thus you will continue to learn and be allowed to
attend guest performances and social activities but will lose the privilege of singing in the concert.
Concert Attire: White blouse, long sleeve or ¾ (below elbow), nothing tight. Black dress pants (no jeans,
leggings, or yoga pants) or long black shirt below the knee. Closed toed black flats or one inch heels with black
socks or nude knee highs. Scarf of any bright solid color, silk/rayon or cotton (thin). The idea is not to have
anything too heavy to make singers feel hot on stage, so no wool scarves. Scarves can be short or long.
Chaperones/Badges: Each singer will receive one free chaperone badge (distributed at the parent/chaperone
orientation meeting). Chaperone badges serve several purposes. They allow free admission into exhibit halls.
Chaperones who have badges can also attend conference interest sessions and non-Honor Choir performances,
ONLY after all regularly registered conference attendees have been accommodated. If you would like to be
guaranteed admission to interest sessions, non-Honor Choir performances, and any other conference activities,
you should register formally as a non-ACDA member through their website, www.acda.org.
Concert Tickets for Parents: Each singer will be given 2 concert tickets per Honor Choir concert. Chaperone
badges will not allow you into Honor Choir concerts. These tickets will be distributed at the parent/chaperone
meeting on Wednesday at 1 pm. If you do not need tickets for one of the days, the Honor Choir managers will
reassign these at the meeting. Additional tickets beyond the 2 are not guaranteed but may become available if
other parents relinquish theirs. The final optional performance at the Conference Center is free and open to the
public, with no tickets required.
Transportation within Salt Lake City: The public transit system, TRAX, is excellent. You can take TRAX from
the airport (Terminal 1) directly to the hotels, using the green line ($2.50). “Courthouse” is the stop closest to
the Little America, Sheraton, and Crystal Inn. Taxis from the airport will run approximately $25-$30. In
addition, you can see from the map that traveling back and forth from the rehearsal hotel to the downtown area
is easy. Just get on the green line TRAX and get off on Temple Square or City Center. Parents/sponsors are
encouraged to use this transportation also. Abravanel Hall and the Salt Lake Tabernacle (the two performance
venues) are both easily accessible off of the Temple Square exit. Any public transportation within the
downtown area is considered a “fare free zone.”
Repertoire: Music will be mailed to you when registration fee and paperwork have been received. Check
http://choraltracks.com/acda for part learning materials/recordings.

Middle School/ Jr. High School Girls Divisis 2 part pieces: The Call of Wisdom Everyone sings the first 2 pages (Ms. Sharkova may change this later). At page 5, split into 2 parts, all sopranos on the top line, all altos on the bottom line marked S2. Bedu Pako Baramasa This piece begins as solo/choir, for the whole first page. Then, we move to 2 parts, then 3 then 4. Follow your voice part designation. In 2 parts, all sopranos on the top part, altos on the bottom. In 3 parts, all “highs” on the top part, “middles” on the middle part, and “lows” on the bottom part. In 4 parts, use the 2 part designation, and sopranos split in two (look at your audition ID #: all odd #s go to the 2nd line, all even audition ID #s stay on the top line). Altos will split in two, also with the 2 part designation, and odd audition ID #s go to the bottom line, even audition ID #s go to the 2nd line from the bottom). In addition, you will see that there are parts within these 4 that split further (measures 35-‐51, 58-‐60, 64-‐67). When this occurs, you will take the top note if your last name begins with the letters A-‐L, the bottom note if your last name begins with the letters M-‐Z. At the last page, the soloist (to be decided on during rehearsals) will sing the top line from measures 68-‐83. Everyone in the choir stays on the bottom line on that page (9). 3 part pieces: Sing Creations Music On As written, all high voices sing the top S line, middle voices sing the bottom line of the top staff (S2), and low voices sing the bottom staff (A). Ol’ Time Religion As written: S1=high, S2=middle, A=low For the last 2 measures, ignore the cue notes (E in the alto line, G# in the S1 line). Ms. Sharkova will assign those on site. Goza mi Calipso As written. When there are two notes on your part, sing the top note if your audition ID # is odd, sing the bottom note if your audition ID# is even. Banjo Pickin’ Girl As written, in 3 parts. Spring Waters Note that the middle and low parts are on the bottom staff. At measure 20, the high part/soprano 1 splits into 2 parts. If your audition ID is odd, sing the top note. If it is even, sing the bottom note. Lilacs As written, in 3 parts. When the altos split, at measures 11, 13-‐15, sing the top note if your audition ID is odd, and sing the bottom note if your audition ID is even. Gloria “Highs” and “middles” should sing the top staff, “lows” should sing the bottom staff. For the last 2 measures, the low part splits in two. If your audition ID # is even, sing the top note, and sing the top note if your audition ID # is even. (/7!2$+2/#+7).s0(/4/'2!0(%2
