Healthy Smiles, Healthy Children (HSHC) supports community-based initiatives FACT SHEET

Healthy Smiles, Healthy Children (HSHC) supports community-based initiatives
nationwide providing Dental Homes to children from families who cannot afford
dental care. Founded in 1987, Healthy Smiles, Healthy Children is the
$13 million philanthropic arm of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Since 2010, HSHC has released more than $700,000 in support of Access to Care
initiatives helping more than 100,000 children in 17 states. HSHC awards
annually single-year grants of up to $20,000 supporting dentist-led efforts in
offering care to underserved children.
In 2014, the Foundation will:
• Release up to $400,000 in single-year Access to Care Grants
• Introduce multi-year Access to Care Grants of up to $375,000 each
• Hold its second annual HSHC Dental Home Day, providing Dental Homes
