Readings for Today's Eucharist
Zephaniah 1.7,12-18: This passage introduces the
day of the Lord as a day of sacrifice. Here,
Zephaniah portrays God as the priest who will offer
the sacrifice, and this is accompanied by two
important implications: that Judah is the sacrifice
and the guests are armies of destruction. The sole
rubric for this ritual is named at the beginning of the
oracle: to be silent in the presence of God.
1 Thessalonians 5.1-11: Paul exhorts to be always
ready for the coming of Christ to judgment, which
will be with suddenness and surprise. It is needless
or useless to ask about the particular time of
Christ's coming.
Matthew 25.14-30: The parable of the talents does
not justify a gospel of economic prosperity. Instead,
it challenges believers to emulate their Master by
using all that God has given them for the sake of the
kingdom.

Parish Christmas Fair
Saturday 6th December
11.00am in the Parish Hall Entry by donation
Let's see the whole Parish at this year's Christmas
Fair! All the usual stalls will be there - books, toys,
cakes, sweets, bottles, cards, raffle, tombola, plants,
jewellery, raffles, lucky dips, hampers, Christmas
puddings, even some early Christmas cheer! You
won't go hungry as hot dogs and other tasty treats will
be served. The bell-ringers will be there with their
Christmassy music whilst you enjoy your lunch. Father
Christmas has put us into his busy schedule and he'll
be there until 12.00 noon to hear what the little ones
would like to receive on Christmas Day. As with last
year there will be no 'private' stalls, only those who
donate all profit to the parish.
PS: If anyone would like to make a cake (or a few small
ones!) the Mothers Union would be very pleased to
sell them as part of their traditional cake stall.
Ho-Ho-Ho!!!
Teddy-Bola at the Christmas Fair
Do you want to make space in your house? Could you
part with those soft toys the children don't want any
more? We are hoping to do a Teddy Tombola stall at
the Christmas Fair on 6th December and we need
clean soft toys to put on the stall. This includes
teddies or any other soft toys in good condition. Toys
can be dropped off at 3 Cross Green Road, Fulwood
PR2 9QU (just off Yewlands Ave) or phone Kath
Finlayson on 01772 717277 and we'll collect them.

Remembrance Sunday
Thank you…
…to everyone who contributed to last Sunday's
prayerful and dignified commemorations that took
place in the worship centres cross the parish.
Particular thanks go to the Churchwardens,
Sidespersons, Uniformed Groups, Thomas for playing
the Last Post, and the Choir at the 11am Service in
our parish church. Your hard work ensured that the
service, attended by over 500 people, ran smoothly
and was very well received.
Sides People and Christmas Fair Tombola
It's that time of year again when Sides People are
invited to contribute to the Tombola Stall. There are
boxes at the worship centres for your contributions.
Thanks in anticipation of your help.
