Teachers and students: French Club is collecting aluminum pop tabs again this year. A1 classes collect
as much as you can before spring break! Our club really wants to help Ronald McDonald House! We will
provide a breakfast to the A1 class that collects the most tabs by weight (we don’t count them! ☺)

The Central High NAACP chapter will be meeting 1st and 2nd lunch this Friday, November 14th. 1st lunch
will meet in room 325 B and 2nd lunch will meet in ROTC room. Bring all completed applications at this

Want to learn how to turn used shoes into a great service project? The Ladies Club will have a guest
speaker on November 18th in room 127B during 2nd lunch to help prepare us for our
November/December Service Project of exporting used shoes to needy countries. Funds generated will
help buy the necessary equipment and supplies to get clean, safe water to villages and communities in
Kenya and Haiti. All Ladies Club members and guests are welcome to join this informative meeting.

The Military ASVAB Test will be given Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Juniors and Seniors interested in taking the
test please sign up in the Guidance Office. Deadline to sign up is November 14th.
 Students who have already signed up to take the ASVAB Test on Tuesday, November 18th are to see Ms. Miles in the
Guidance Office to receive your instructions and test study guide.
 Underclass school picture makeup day is TODAY by appointment only. Please come to room 103 to sign up.
 Attention students! Our homeless shelter is in need of supplies this season. Donations of new or slightly used supplies,
coats, books for children in preschool, shoes, and sports balls are needed and much appreciated. Clothing sizes needed
range from infant to adult extra – large, and we request all items be in good, useable condition. Bring your items to
your A1 class now through December 1st. The class with the most items will receive a pizza party. Help out the
community and donate!
 Community service opportunities for students in grades 6-12 is being offered by Teen Aspire. Volunteer

Homelessness Awareness and Sensitivity Poster & High School Essay Contest. Students in grades 9-12th can participate in
either the poster or essay writing contest. Pick up contest rules in the guidance office. Contest deadline is November 14,

The Hays Memorial Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship offered each year by Hendrix College. Recipients of
this scholarship are exceptionally well-rounded student leaders who contribute to the educational community of Hendrix
College. To be eligible for the Hays Memorial Scholarship you must a graduating senior with a 3.6 cumulative GPA, a
minimum ACT “super score” composite of 32 or a minimum SAT Critical Reading and Math combined “super score” total of
1410, and apply to Hendrix by the November 15th Early Action I Deadline. Complete the online nomination form at

Slam Poetry. The Thea Foundation has announced scholarship deadlines for 2015 Thea Scholarship Competitions. If you

Telluride Association sophomore Seminar is seeking 10th graders interested in being challenged in a six-week residential
summer program. The topics covered are within the fields of Black and Ethnic studies. Any 10th grader interested in being

Bronfman Fellowships is a selective merit based program for high school juniors who identify at Jewish. This is a fully

with a 2.50 GPA or better can sign up in the Guidance Office. Please dress professionally and take copies of your unofficial

Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program is offering a $1000 scholarship. Comcast would like to recognize a
select senior for their commitment to community service, academics and demonstrated leadership. Interested seniors

Attention Seniors admitted to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville – The 2015 Arkansas Alumni Association
Scholarship Application is now available. Applicants must be already admitted as an incoming freshmen to the U of A as a
degree-seeking student, have a 3.6 cumulative GPA, and a composite of at least 24 on the ACT. Priority deadline is
December 1st, 2014 and the Final Deadline being February 2, 2015. Applications are available at
Attention Seniors – Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville has released scholarship applications for the 2015-2016
academic year. Scholarships are available online at www.siue/alumni/awards. Students must apply for admission to
Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Scholarship applications must be submitted or postmarked by Friday, January
30, 2015.
Attention Seniors interested in careers in Agriculture – America’s Farmers Grow AG Leaders announces a new
scholarship program aimed at students looking for career opportunities in agriculture. Interested students may apply
online at FFA.org/scholarships starting November 15th, 2014 until February 1st, 2015. Students must have three farmers’
endorsements of their application, have a 2.5 GPA, and major in an agricultural related field.
Attention Seniors planning on majoring in Education – The Arkansas Association of Federal Coordinators (AAFC) is
offering the AAFC Scholarship to high school seniors to supplement college costs during their freshmen year. The
scholarship award is $1,000 for the first academic year and will be awarded to full-time students who enroll in an Arkansas
College or University, including junior colleges, community, vocational, or technical colleges, and plan to major in education.
Interested students must have a 3.0 GPA, Good citizenship (No suspensions or expulsions), Membership in a service or
academic organization (extracurricular activity may be substituted), a letter of recommendation from a principal,
counselor, or teacher, and non-family member (3 letters of recommendation required), and plan to work in the field of
Education. The completed application must be received by December 19th, 2014. Please complete and mail all items listed
on the “checklist” part of the application. Failure to do so could result in the choice of another applicant. Please stop by
