Mary Virginia Taylor, Resident Bishop
Joseph S. Green, District Superintendent
Carol Underdown, Administrative Assistant
ALCOA, Tenn. (March 26, 2015) -- Bishop Mary Virginia Taylor announces
the following projected appointments for the 2015-2016 ministerial year,
effective July 1.
Lauri Jo Cranford, Kingsport District Superintendent
The Rev. Lauri Jo Cranford is a native of Morristown, Tenn., where she grew
up in First United Methodist Church of Morristown. She attended Emory
University and Candler School of Theology where she became active in
university worship, working with Susan Henry-Crowe and Bobbi Patterson.
Both women were instrumental in modeling the diversity of ministry for her.
Her two campus ministers, Richard Ferrell and Bert Scott, helped and
encouraged her as she explored a call to ministry. She entered full-time
ministry in Holston in 1998 following a CPE residency at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She has
served in Oak Ridge and Johnson City Districts and once served in Knoxville at the UTK Foundation. She is
married to Rex Hill, who is also a pastor, and is the stepmother of two adult children, Marissa and Danae. She
and Rex also have a 7-year-old, Breanna, who keeps them on their toes.
Elihugh J. Kilgore, Cleveland District Superintendent
The Rev. Elihugh (Hugh) J. Kilgore responded to the nudging of God’s grace and answered the call of ordained
ministry in 1981. Kiligore was baptized and confirmed at Moorefield United Methodist Church in St. Paul,
Virginia, Big Stone Gap District. He graduated from Carson Newman College with a Bachelor’s Degree in
Religion and went on to receive a Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology, Emory University.
Hugh has served churches in the Cleveland, Morristown, Tazewell and Wytheville Districts and has served on
the Conference Youth Council, District Board of Ordained Ministry, District Missions Committee, and the
District Camping Board. He is married to Susette McCarty Kilgore for 35 years and they are blessed with four
boys: Ben, Jon, Zach, and Nathan.
Cranford follows the Rev. David Graves in the Kingsport District. Kilgore follows the Rev. Joe Green in the
Cleveland District.

The Holston Conference Foundation
stewards nearly 200 special purpose
endowments, scholarships and program
grants established by individuals, families,
and friends that support specific ministries,
churches, and institutions.
These funds are governed by documents put
in place by generous donors and overseen
by a grant committee made up of members
of the Foundation's Board of Directors and
other volunteers who carefully review
applications and evaluate priorities
established by the donor.
Applications can be found at holston.org

The majority of the Foundation grants
furthering United Methodist ministries were
established through estate planning by
thoughtful individuals who wished to leave a
positive legacy. Should you wish to discuss
establishing a fund through a testamentary
gift from your estate please contact Paul
Bowman or Roger Redding at 865-690-8124.
Way to Go! Way to Give! Holston
Conference. Your generosity continues to
touch lives through the shared ministries
supported by the tithe and second-mile
giving. Visit WaytoGiveHolston.org for a
bulletin insert that serves as a thank you note
to your congregations for the ministries
shared in 2014.
In addition, you will find bulletin inserts and
video resources that are intended for use in
your local church beginning in
February. These very special pieces provide a
call from Bishop Dindy Taylor to commit our
time and our 2015 Annual Conference
Mission Offering to Children and Poverty in
the Holston Conference. A copy of the video
with instructional guidance will be emailed
directly to clergy, treasurers, finance
chairpersons, lay leaders, and lay members to
Annual Conference in the near future. Please
use these resources to issue the invitation to
“bring it home” as we give of ourselves to the
most vulnerable in our communities. Thank
you, Holston. Let’s see how many lives we
can change this year!

Perhaps as many as 1 in 8 children in America will go to bed hungry tonight.
According to the National Center for the
