FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Handmade for Hospice Benefits Hospice Patients in Cape May County CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – September 11, 2013 ‐ Cape Regional Medical Center and Cape Visiting Nurse Association (Cape VNA) have announced the “Handmade for Hospice” program to benefit hospice patients in Cape May County. Volunteers at the Medical Center and Community Volunteer Knitters make afghans, lap blankets and comfort shawls to donate to patients being cared for by Cape VNA. “It was such a wonderful treat when my Cape VNA nurse brought me my lap blanket on her visit today,” stated Peggy, a hospice patient from Cape May. “I can’t thank the volunteers enough for taking the time to make these beautiful blankets. It made my day!” Handmade for Hospice is an expansion of the Community Knitters Program started at the Medical Center several years ago. All knitted items are labeled, indicating that they were handmade by volunteers. Cape Regional and Cape VNA are accepting donations of yarn or gift cards for the purchase of yarn.
