Cirilia Rose Skacel’s Creative Director

Cirilia Rose Skacel’s Creative Director
Cirilia Rose, the new Creative Director, for Skacel has been in Iceland with
Stephen West and Ragga Eiriksdottir at Body, Mind, Lopi for a part of this
month of July. In fact, she is just returning this week in time for our Guild
meeting. While in Iceland she has been involved in styling the photo
shoot of new designs that she and Steven West have produced. She
has promised us a photo look at these new designs and a glimpse into
what’s involved in doing a photo shoot of newly designed knitted
pieces done in Skacel’s Schoppel Wolle, Zitron, and Schulana.
Cirilia has previously worked with Norah Gaughan at Berocco. If you
take a peek at her designs on Ravelry, you’ll see she has produced 138
designs, included in 17 different pattern books. Besides her website you can find her designs in One Skein
Wonders, Luxury Yarns One Skein Wonders, The Knitter’s Book of Socks,
Vampire Knits, Weekend Hats, New England Knits, and My Grandmother’s
Knitting to list a few. We are so very glad that she has chosen to locate
to Seattle and add her talents to our creative and vibrant knitting
She also blogs on Skacel Fiber Studio
There you’ll find out what she’s currently working on and where she is
traveling to next.

Ice Cream Social Recap
The ice cream social last month was delightful, some say even absolutely first-class.
The setting was relaxing, the YARNO game was a lot of fun and the prizes were
a bonus. It was a wonderful time to meet new people and chat to old and new
members. Of course, it goes without saying the ice-cream was delish!
Thank you for Susan Parke for executing this event!

Welcome Paulette Hauck — new
Program Committee Chair!
Carol Sherman, President
Paulette is a recent convert to knitting, having only taken knitting up
last August (yes a year ago). She took lessons in April 2011 and just
thought she could not do this so she just stopped, but after retiring
from Qwest Communications she used decided to pursue knitting
again. Her first project was a very sad looking dish cloth but she
persisted with the help of a couple of great mentors, who answered
her questions like, really a purl is just a backwards knit? Today she is a
knitter with a closet full of yarn and more projects than she will have
time to complete in her lifetime. She loves knitting - it is fun and it
makes her feel like she is creating something special and unique, not
to mention beautiful.

US West, formerly Pacific Northwest Bell and now CenturyLink) for 36
years, before retiring. She has have no children, but a very spoiled cat,
and two nieces and two nephews that make her days joyous. She loves
to read and play competitive duplicate bridge and is currently a Bronze
Life Master.
